The Vodafone Oaks is run at Epsom Downs over 1 mile and a half (12 furlongs). It is for 3 year old thoroughbred fillies, and takes it's name from the Earl of Derby's estate "The Oaks" in Carshalton, about 4 miles to the east of Epsom Downs. It was first run on May 14th 1779, and it is one of the 5 British Classic Races. The Oaks is a Group 1 flat race.
There are many betting opportunities for the 2000 guineas, including Win, Each Way or Forecast Bets. Many bookmakers also pay out on first past the post, as well as any winner that may come about as a result of a Steward's enquiry.
