The UEFA Champions League was formerly known as the European Cup, before it took it's current, group stage, format. It has been won by English clubs 3 times since 1999. Manchester United beat Bayern Munich in the final in 1999, Liverpool beat AC Milan in 2005 and Manchester United beat Chelsea in the first ever all English final in 2008.
